The Dining Room is actually in the Lied Lodge located about 60 miles south of Omaha. The area around the Lodge is beautiful with large old trees and rolling green fields. I recommend staying at the lodge if you are passing through or as a staycation. The dining room has a traditional rustic feel with magnificent views off the patio. They also have a good size bar. It's Nebraska so the majority of the dinner options has beef. The Brie is served with pickled strawberry salsa. The chicken satay was served with a cream peanut sauce and a mango salsa. These were my two favorite appetizers. The chicken roulade, pork tenderloin and pasta were delicious. They only have one pasta dish. The herbs and sauces made their dishes unique. The service was prompt and accurate. Service was ok. I got our waitress to smile. They have large tables for large groups. It's a group friendly place.

The building is impressive in its own right, but the dining was very disappointing on a recent visit. Now, I've eaten at the Timber Dining room several times before and it's always been decent (which is what's saving this review from being a one star). I was looking forward to this visit since it would be my first since Chef Thomas Mckinney-Stehr took over in July of this year. It was a difficult decision between the TD Niche Pulled Pork, but how could I not order the BLT? House-cured bacon, fried green tomatoes, kimchi, and bourbon-ginger mustard on a pretzel roll. Re-reading that now, I can see what maybe should have been clues to the explosion of conflicting flavors I was affronted with at first bite. Bourbon? Ginger? Mustard? AND Kimchi? What was I thinking? Upon dissection, the mustard seemed to be the main culprit, as anything it touched was rendered undesirable. The bacon was amazing, of course, but I would never order this sandwich again. I will, however, visit the Timber Dining room again on next opportunity, hopefully for a redemption meal. Our server was great, and apple cider was good, but the BLT... never again.

We stopped in the Lodge for lunch and discovered that the Timber Dining Room's version of a BLT is absolutely to die for. Mind you, this isn't a traditional BLT. It's the thickest, most delicious bacon you'll ever eat, a thickly and crisply breaded green tomato, and kimchi, all a soft, yummy pretzel roll. I requested the bourbon-ginger mustard on the side, and am I ever glad I did, because it would have completely dominated the sandwich and I wouldn't have been able to taste the deliciousness that is the Timber Room's BLT. My husband and I plan to come to the Lied Lodge for our anniversary and actually stay in the hotel (we just came for a day trip to Kimmel's Orchard). We look forward to eating both dinner and breakfast in the Timber Dining Room.

We dined in the Timber Dining Room a year ago and were disappointed. We were reluctant to return but due to time constraints we dined there just this weekend. WOW, are we glad we did, too! They have a new head chef and it shows. Everything was delicious. The staff were particularly helpful, informative, and knew the menu inside and out. Of all the places in Nebraska City, we ate here three times over the weekend and looking forward to going back.

Beautiful, spacious environment with a gorgeous view. Wait staff was attentive and informative. Every item on the menu looked extremely tempting to us but we went with the special. 5 ounce pepper encrusted fillet, seared tuna, mushroom risotto, and we swapped out the broccoli for roasted red beets. Two people shared this one dinner and the portions were more than adequate to split a meal. Everything was full of flavor and beautifully presented. We ordered the filet medium rare and it was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. The mushroom risotto was super creamy. The tuna was barely cooked and was spectacular. We honestly marveled over the beets. We kept asking ourselves whether there was butter or some other flavoring on them or if the beets themselves were just that tasty. We didn't need dessert, but we ordered one anyway. The raspberry and chocolate mousse was a beautiful combination of flavors and came with a darling little mint leaf stuck in the top. We don't live in Nebraska City, but we hope to come back to try multiple other items on the menu. I mean, who doesn't want to try the poached pear salad? Or the baked walleye with blue cheese mashed potatoes?

I ate at the Timber Dining Room when I stayed at the Lied Lodge. I was there on a Saturday evening and made reservations for 6:30 p.m., as was recommended. I will say the dining room had plenty of availability, so likely reservations are not necessary. A friend and I wore business casual attire, but found it to be unnecessary. Most patrons were in casual attire, including jeans and even yoga pants. We opted for the buffet that included non-alcoholic drinks, small salad and dessert bar, and entree options that included veggies, potatoes, salmon and prime rib. The food was okay - nothing great. The prime rib was very thinly cut, and butter sauces drenched the sides. With tip, one alcoholic mixed drink and two buffets, the bill was near $80. About what I expected to pay for dinner, but for the quality of the food, it didn't meet my expectations. We ended up canceling breakfast reservations for the next day because it was clear we'd overpay for "just okay" food. I had heard really great things about the chefs, so I was disappointed. Maybe I would have been happier ordering an entree from the menu, versus the buffet, but I probably won't return to find out.

I wish Yelp would let me give 4.5 stars.... Made a day-trip down to Nebraska City to check out Waubonsie State Park and stop in to the Lied Lodge for dinner. Restaurant was empty at 5:00 p.m. but we eventually saw a few more diners. We had our pick of seats and chose to sit on the terrace outside. Perfect weather, warm sunshine and no wind. Absolutely ideal. Ordered a Manhattan off the drink menu and was not disappointed -- especially with the price: $6. A heck of a good price for this very tasty and well-mixed cocktail. We were served complimentary bread with an assortment of whipped butters: pecan & bleu cheese, red pepper & garlic, and plain ol' butter. Wow. The red pepper & garlic butter with the warm, soft bread was the perfect start to this meal. The fact that we were offered another round of bread and butter was definitely above and beyond. We declined in order to save room for the rest, but I was definitely tempted to get some more. Very, very good. I ordered the special: Grilled Pork Chop with a sherry vinegar mushroom cream sauce, bleu cheese mashed potatoes and sautéed broccolini. The pork was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. The sauce was rich but not overpowering. The thinly sliced mushrooms added a nice bit of texture and the apricots mixed in were an awesome kick of sweetness. Broccolini was sautéed nicely and seasoned well. I'm not a huge fan of mashed potatoes but these were some of the best I've ever had. Smooth and velvety, creamy and peppery and a touch bitter with the bleu cheese mixed in. I cleaned my plate. Presentation on the dish felt a bit "hotel wedding" to me, lacking cohesion as each component of the dish was served in its own area on the plate. Would've loved a full bone-in pork chop, but now I'm just being picky. For dessert we tried the apple pie à la mode and the chocolate custard pot with roasted cocoa nibs. Wow. Not disappointed with either of them AT ALL. Very, very tasty, and I'm not a huge dessert guy. Apple pie was definitely the winner between the two, no doubt about it. Service was OUTSTANDING. Our server, Branden, was friendly and knowledgeable, he stopped to chat with us a few times about the resort and the area, and provided some great insight as to some of the local attractions. He was always on top of water refills and bringing our courses out at just the right moment... We had a wonderful meal on a beautiful evening with an incredible view. HIghly recommended, especially if you're looking to take a loved one out for a special occasion. And the best part is that everything is locally sourced and, in my opinion, you can really tell -- especially with the pork. Wow. Top notch.

Everyone is right: overpriced and bland. Ordered a $9 Bibb bacon and bleu cheese salad; I'm not the type to want their greens covered in cheese and meat, but to call this a Bibb bacon bleu salad is horribly misleading. It is a handful of wilted Bibb leaves, a quarter of an ounce (if that) of bleu cheese, and two bacon crumbles whose combined surface area was less than my pinky nail. Frankly, I imagine they used half a centimeter of a generic bacon slice for the entire salad. There were also two of the smallest, mushiest, most vinegary tomatoes I've ever tried (rotten?). Absolutely ridiculous. Wish I'd stayed at home or done Subway. Really. But contrary to all other complaints, I found the waitstaff to be very sweet.

Extremely disappointing. The lodge itself is very nice. Clean, welcoming, and a joy to visit. Dinner at the restaurant in the lodge... not so much. We didn't think we needed reservations for 5:00. We went down to eat and saw that they had two tables occupied and the rest were empty. We had five in our party--four adults and one toddler. We were turned away because we didn't have a reservation. That's right: from an empty restaurant, we were turned away. We were told that there was a party of 30 coming and three parties of 10. They had the tables set up for them and I understand that. What I didn't understand was why we couldn't sit at one of the other dozen empty tables. We were told that with five in our party we would have to sit at a table for six or more and that they could not move two tables together. We had to go someplace else--away from an empty restaurant at the resort we were staying at because we did not have a reservation. Knuckleheads. Thinking we'd try the breakfast buffet the next day, we went back. We called and asked for a 9:00 reservation. We were told that the only available reservation for a table of five was 9:45 for breakfast. Okay, we took it. They only had a buffet available on Sunday for breakfast. Bacon, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, waffles, and omelets cooked to order. Most of the food was cold--cold biscuits, cold gravy, cold eggs, cold sausage, and cold fatty undercooked bacon. The oatmeal was actually pretty good.

I'm not sure what the other complaints were about, but my wife and I took a nice weekend and stayed at the Arbor Day Lodge overnight. We had supper Saturday night and breakfast brunch Sunday morning. The food was terrific on both instances. The service was great, both of our entrees were very tasty, and the atmosphere was really great. We are planning on making a night stay here about every other month from here on out so we can relax, and it will include the meals in the Timber Dining Room.

I will start off by saying we had dinner at the Lied Timber room and it was quite good. We had crab cakes (which were made with lump meat), delicious wine and steak. Our service was awesome and our table view was beautiful. Overall we were happy campers except the bill was a bit steep for what we got in our opinions. Because we were staying at the lodge over Easter we of course made reservations to their brunch. It all started off well enough until we actually hit the buffet. And I have to say it was HORRIBLE. I've never been to a buffet that was so disappointing. We were seated as soon as the dining room opened and the potatoes were cold and rubbery, the rest of the food lacked flavor terribly. I eventually gave up and stuck with cheese, salad and dessert (which was tasty). For 30 bucks a person you can do OH SO MUCH BETTER some where else!

I haven't eaten in the dining room, but the food at the bar is from the same menu as the dining room. Good is great - nice selection and variety. Fantastic cheese plate. Dessert are fabulous!! Bar staff is lovely. Plus you are surrounded by the beautiful lodge design and decor.
